CHIKARA line ups for this weekend

Here are the full line ups for this weekends CHIKARA shows. All of the pictures are taken from http://www.chikarapro.com

March 24th 2012 at the Trio Sportplex 610 Cityview Blvd, Vaughan, Ontario

Doors at 7pm, belltime at 7:30pm.

Campeonatos de Parejas tag title match, 2 out of 3 Falls:

Non Title Match:

4 Corner Elimination Tag Team Match:

Thoughts: The main event and the four corner tag match will be wild. It will be interesting to see how heel Ophidian versus the champion the Kingston turns out.

March 25th 2012 at Knights of Columbus Hall, 260 McArthur Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario

Doors at 3pm, belltime at 4

CHIKARA Grand Championship:

Thoughts: Kingston vs Lee could be very good, and it may be the last time we see Lee on the indys since he may be WWE bound.

I haven’t heard of the Colony’s rival ants, 17 or The Shard, so I assume they’re ROH guys in masks, since the promotions are feuding in the build up to the “Synergy” show. I could be way off though, in which case feel free to let me know.

As always, if you attend, feel free to send a review to indywrestling@hotmail.co.uk and I’ll share it here. We’ve received some great reviews from readers recently.

CHIKARA videos (from the past week)

Are you subscribed to CHIKARA on Youtube? If you’re a fan, or someone who wants to check it out, you should be, since they post several videos a week. From the past week there’s:

Podcast A-Go-Go 306 - Featuring clips from the first CHIKARA show of 2012, “The Thirteenth Hat”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2x-dN1WXaI

Throwdown Lowdown - Sara Del Rey presents what is basically the Spot Of The Week. A double team move from the Thirteenth Hat is on display this week: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72rAIpqWjcs

The Barber Shop - Jon Barber delves into the lives of the CHIKARA wrestlers outside of the ring, this week asking them what their families think of their chosen profession: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGp0VcesX_w

Event Center - A look ahead at the upcoming CHIKARA shows: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QadvXcWs64

Thoughts: They put a lot of effort into putting all of this stuff out. It’s a great way of showcasing the action and characters that the Chikara features. Other indy promotions should take note.

Thoughts: The main events for both nights look very strong on paper. If Johnny Gargano still hasn’t recovered in time for the show, I imagine his stablemate Icarus will take his place. If my memory serves me correctly, that has happened before.

Chikara and ROH results (03/12/11)

Results from the second night of Chikara’s Joshimania weekend and Ring of Honor’s ‘Southern Defiance’ show.

Chikara ‘Joshimania - Night 2’

The show took place in Everett, Massachusetts. Thanks once again to the Chikara 101 message board for these results.

Toshie Uematsu & GAMI defeated Cherry & Sawako Shimono

Ophidian defeated Gregory Iron

Kaori Yoneyama defeated Hanako Nakamori

Mayumi Ozaki defeated Mio Shirai

Sara Del Rey defeated Tsubasa Kuragaki

Mamami Toyota, Mike Quakenbush, Fire Ant & Soldier Ant defeated Portia Perez, Icarus, Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano

Aja Kong defeated Ayako Hamada

Thoughts: From what I’ve heard these shows have been a resounding success so far, and with match-ups like these it’s easy to see why. It’s also good that they’ve put on a few matches featuring the regular roster, it gives the shows a little more meaning and helps further some stoylines, rather than it simply being an exhibition weekend.

Ring of Honor ‘Southern Defiance’

This took place in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Thanks to pwponderings.com for the results.

Mike Bennett defeated Adam Cole

ROH TV Champion Jay Lethal defeated TJ Perkins in a Proving Ground match

The Young Bucks defeated The All Night Express

The Briscoes defeated Caprice Coleman and Cedric Alexander

ROH Tag Team Champions Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas defeated the House of Truth (Roderick Strong and Michael Elgin) in a Proving Ground match

Eddie Edwards defeated El Generico

Jay Lethal wins the 20-man Honor Rumble to earn a future ROH World Title shot. The final four were Lethal, El Generico, Roderick Strong and Michael Elgin. Lethal got the win by eliminating Strong.

Thoughts: Sounds like another fantastic ROH show. I’d love to see both Edwards vs Generico and the Rumble match, it’s a concept that’s not so common in the indies but is always exciting. Apparently some of the matches were being taped for TV, so with any luck we’ll see some of it soon.
