As you may know, the Dragon Gate USA “Open The Freedom Gate” champion Johnny Gargano has been sidelined since January, due to a serious injury he had sustained that had worsened significantly (to the point that he could barely move) during his first title defence (against Ricochet at EVOLVE 10). He has returned to the ring since, but only briefly in a battle royal (in AIW) as far as I know, and he was only announced for a nine man tag team match for the upcoming DGUSA shows…until yesterday.

He will make his second defence of the Open The Freedom Gate title at DGUSA: Mercury Rising 2012 on March the 31st, against former Open The Dream Gate champion Masato Yoshino. This was announced in the following (five minute) video, that details Gargano’s career from his aspirations as a child, to his title victory, to his injury, to his upcoming return:

Thoughts: It’s great to hear that Gargano is ready to be back in action completely, he and Yoshino should have a great match. I expected Yoshino would be the next challenger, given his recent victories of Naruki Doi and CIMA.

The video is fantastic, you should definitely make time to watch it, even if you aren’t a regular DGUSA viewer.
