Notes:
*Mochizuki’s stable is currently unnamed, so I will be referring to it as “Team Mochizuki”.
*Team Mochizuki are face, Ronin are face, Blood Warriors are heel. D.U.F are tweeners (in between face and heel), I think.
* YAMATO is a member of Team Mochizuki, but is a tweener.
Friday - Fearless 2011 (online pay per view) - Revere, MA (USA)
Open The United Gate Title Match: Masato Yoshino & PAC of Team Mochizuki (champions) vs YAMATO of Team Mochizuki & Akira Tozawa
Open The Freedom Gate Champion YAMATO and his former Kamikaze stablemate, Akira Tozawa, have patched up their differences following their fallout a few months ago, and will challenge the “Speed Star” Masato Yoshino and “The Man That Gravity Forgot” PAC for the United Gate (DGUSA Tag Team Titles).
Kamikaze have recently disbanded, and YAMATO has reluctantly joined Team Mochizuki in the war against Blood Warriors. He is now aligned with former World 1 members Yoshino and PAC, with whom he has been bitter enemies for years, and this weekend will do nothing to ease the tension within the new super faction, as YAMATO and PAC seek to take each other’s titles (PAC is challenging for the Freedom Gate on Sunday).
Both teams are incredibly dynamic, the speed of Yoshino combined with the high flying ability of PAC, against the stiff strikes of Tozawa and the technical prowess of YAMATO. DGUSA has produced several amazing tag team matches this year, and this may be the best of them all.
Austin Aries of Blood Warriors vs Johnny Gargano of Ronin
At the last DGUSA show, Austin Aries delivered a speech endorsing Ronin. He then betrayed them, joining Blood Warriors in an attack on the three young wrestlers.
Gargano has an opportunity his stablemates will be envious of, as he is the first one with the opportunity to claim vengeance against Aries since the attack.
Tag Team Match: CIMA & Brodie Lee of Blood Warriors vs Chuck Taylor and Rich Swann of Ronin
The Ronin/Blood Warriors situation is getting more and more intense, and now the enormous Brodie Lee is stepping into the picture, things are going to get even harder for Ronin.
Masaaki Mochizuki of Team Mochizuki (obviously) vs Sami Callihan of D.U.F
Sami Callihan, one half of the Dirty Ugly F***s, challenged Masaaki Mochizuki to a series of matches this weekend. Mochizuki has recently began his second reign as the top champion in Japan, and many feel that Callihan has bitten off more than he can chew with this challenge. Will the Open The Dream Gate Champion be victorious, or will the Dirty Ugly F***’s sheer insanity prevail?
Ricochet of Blood Warriors vs Susumu Yokosuka of Team Mochizuki
While Blood Warriors are focusing on Ronin in the States, back in Japan they are waging war with Team Mochizuki. Yokosuka is a true Dragon Gate veteran, whereas Ricochet is a young star rapidly on the rise. This match is a potential show stealer.
Four Way Freestyle: Arik Cannon of D.U.F vs AR Fox vs Tony Nese vs Scott Reed
Arik Cannon is going to be desperate for the win in order to gain some momentum going into his match with Mochizuki tomorrow, but the other three men will be equally determined to prove themselves.
Saturday - Uprising 2011 (pay per view) - Deer Park, NY (USA)
Four Way Freestyle: YAMATO of Team Mochizuki vs Masato Yoshino of Team Mochizuki vs CIMA of Blood Warriors vs Johnny Gargano of Ronin
This match was originally booked as a four way between members of each faction in DGUSA; Kamikaze, World 1, Blood Warriors and Ronin. Since then, both World 1 and Kamikaze have disbanded, with most members joining the super stable of Masaaki Mochizuki. As a result of this, YAMATO and Yoshino, both of the new stable, will be competing against each other for the second night running, which will undoubtedly intensify the rivalry between them.
CIMA and Jonny Gargano will most likely be focused on each other, as the epic Blood Warriors/Ronin saga rages on.
A YAMATO victory would solidify him as the top guy in DGUSA. A victory from anyone else will surely put them in line for a shot at the Freedom Gate.
Three Way Freestyle: PAC of Team Mochizuki vs Ricochet of Blood Warriors vs Chuck Taylor of Ronin
Team Mochizuki and Ronin both hate the despicable Blood Warriors, here both PAC and Chuck Taylor have the chance to get their hands on Ricochet. However, the main story is the PAC/Ricochet rivalry carrying over from Japan, and Chuck Taylor trying to prove he can hang with these two world class athletes. PAC and Ricochet are the two best high flyers in the world, and Taylor is a great wrestler in his own right, so this should be a spectacular match.
Masaaki Mochizuki of Team Mochizuki vs Arik Cannon of D.U.F
Night two of Mochizuki’s D.U.F challenge. Or D.U.F’s Mochizuki challenge, depending on your perspective. Again, Mochizuki is the favourite to win, but don’t count Cannon out, he may be wild enough to overcome the Dream Gate Champion.
Austin Aries of Blood Warriors vs Susumu Yokosuka of Team Mochizuki
The recently heel-turned Aries will do anything it takes to defeat the Dragon Gate icon Yokosuka. Yokosuka will be determined to put the painfully arrogant American in his place.
Akira Tozawa vs AR Fox
Akira Tozawa has been on fire during his extended stay in the US, and will be looking to maintain his momentum in what is possibly his last match before returning to Japan. The high flyer AR Fox is looking to break out in DGUSA, and a victory over Tozawa is exactly what he needs to do so.
Brodie Lee of Blood Warriors vs Tony Nese
I don’t envy any man stepping into the ring with Brodie Lee. A victory for Nese would be astounding.
First Ever Eight Way Freestyle: Rich Swann of Ronin vs Sami Callihan of D.U.F vs Caleb Conley vs Flip Kendrick vs Jon Davis vs Pinkie Sanchez vs Louis Lydon vs Scott Reed
It’s going to be completely insane.
Sunday - Enter The Dragon: Second Anniversary Celebration (online pay per view) - Manhattan, NY (USA)
Open The Freedom Gate Title Match: YAMATO (c) vs PAC (both of Team Mochizuki)
The biggest match of the weekend. Barely two days removed from their tag title encounter, PAC and YAMATO will do battle for the top prize in DGUSA. YAMATO defeated PAC’s longtime ally BxB Hulk for the title back in January, and has been on an incredible run since, highlighted by a huge victory over Austin Aries. He is undoubtedly the man right now, and will give everything he has in order to retain the Freedom Gate.
PAC has been setting DGUSA on fire in the tag division, but also achieved an awesome victory over YAMATO’s tag team partner Akira Tozawa in April. He is looking to avenge Hulk’s loss, to usurp YAMATO as the Champion of Dragon Gate USA, and to prove that he is not just “The Man That Gravity Forgot”, but one of the best all round wrestlers in the world.
It is going to be incredible.
Elimination Match: CIMA, Austin Aries & Brodie Lee of Blood Warriors vs Rich Swann, Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano of Ronin
The conclusion of this epic feud. Ronin have been disrespected, betrayed and abused by Blood Warriors for months. Can they can overcome the veterans CIMA and Aries, as well as the monster Brodie Lee? It’s going to take everything these three young men have to defeat this all star Blood Warriors line up. It’s going to be a war.
Masato Yoshino of Team Mochizuki vs Ricochet of Blood Warriors
The “Speed Star” will be taking on the sensation that is Ricochet. This is the only Team Mochizuki vs Blood Warriors match of the night, so both men are going to have to bring it in order to achieve victory for their respective factions. Can the young heel Ricochet get the victory over the former Open The Dream Gate Champion, or will Yoshino lock in Sol Naciente and choke the Blood Warrior out?
Tag Team Match: Masaaki Mochizuki & Susumu Yokosuka of Team Mochizuki vs Sami Callihan & Arik Cannon of D.U.F
The culmination of the Mochizuki/D.U.F series will see the team of Callihan and Cannon face two of the most elite stars in the history of Dragon Gate. This may be D.U.F’s last chance to prove they can compete on the same level as the Japanese icons, which should lead to a vicious performance. This is the biggest match of their careers, and they will go all out in their attempt to overcome the veterans.
AR Fox vs Pinkie Sanchez
I don’t think I’ve come across Pinkie Sanchez before, so I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do in this match with AR Fox. This is a great opportunity for both young men to showcase their abilities on the biggest DGUSA show of the year.
FRAY! Match: Caleb Conley vs Flip Kendrick vs Tony Nese vs Facade vs Louis Lydon vs Jon Davis vs (more participants to be announced)
A huge battle between many young stars. There may be one or two future main eventers in this match, so be sure to keep an eye out for anyone who may be the next breakout star.

All Star Weekend Night 2 Results are in! Again, thanks to fsportsentertainment for posting them in the PWG forum.
PWG World Championship: Claudio Castagnolo (c) defeated Low Ki
Akira Tozawa defeated Chris Hero
PWG Tag Team Championship: The Young Bucks defeated Austin Aries & Roderick Strong
Eddie Edwards defeated El Generico
The Dynasty defeated The Cutlers
Ricochet defeated Willie Mack
The Nightmare Violence Connection (Kevin Steen & Akira Tozawa) defeated the RockNES Monsters
Kenny King defeated Brian Cage
Notes: Chuck Taylor sustained an injury the previous night, so Willie Mack replaced him in his match against Ricochet, and Tozawa replaced Mack in the match with Chris Hero. Sounds like it was a great last night in PWG for Tozawa. Any PWG fans who are going to miss him should check out the DGUSA ippv this Friday, he is challenging for the tag titles in the main event. I’ll be writing a preview for next weekend’s Dragon Gate triple shot today or tomorrow.
Low Ki has announced on Twitter that he will be at the PWG show tonight. I assume everything is okay with his family, thankfully. His title match with Claudio Castagnoli should be excellent.
PWG World Championship Match: Claudio Castagnoli (champion) vs Low Ki
PWG Tag Team Championship Match: The Young Bucks (champions) vs Austin Aries & Roderick Strong
Chris Hero vs Willie Mack
The Nightmare Violence Connection (Kevin Steen & Akira Tozawa) vs The RockNES Monsters (Johnny Goodtime & Johnny Yuma)
Eddie Edwards vs El Generico
Ricochet vs Chuck Taylor
The Cutlers vs The Dynasty (Joey Ryan & Scorpio Sky)
So due to last night’s results, the Young Bucks vs Aries/Strong will be for the Tag Titles, and Claudio Castagnoli is scheduled to defend the World Title against Low Ki tonight. Still no word on whether Low Ki will be able to make it, I’ll let you know when I find out.
Also, it would be great if anyone who attended last night or is going tonight could send me a report! Just email it to indywrestling@hotmail.co.uk and I’ll post it here.
Results from Night 1 of the All Star Weekend! Commandeered from fsportsentertainment on the PWG forum.
PWG World Championship: Claudio Castagnoli (c) defeated Chris Hero
PWG Tag Team Championship: The Young Bucks (c) defeated The RockNES Monsters
The Nightmare Violence Connection (Kevin Steen & Akira Tozawa) defeated El Generico & Ricochet
Austin Aries & Roderick Strong defeated The Cutlers
Eddie Edwards defeated Alex Shelley
Chuck Taylor defeated Kenny King
Dynasty defeated Taylor Boys
Willie Mack defeated Kevin Steen
Low Ki has had to pull out of tonight’s PWG show due to a family emergency. As a result, Alex Shelley will be facing Eddie Edwards, and the Nightmare Violence Connection (Kevin Steen & Akira Tozawa) will be facing Ricochet and El Generico in a tag team match.
My best wishes go out to Low Ki and family, I hope everything turns out okay for them.
I’d like to thank to ctiben for notifying me.
Thanks for the update. I hope everything turns out okay for Low Ki and his family.
Dragon Gate USA’s Open The Ultimate Gate 2011, their final show of the Wrestlemania weekend, will make it’s television pay per view debut this Friday. Witness YAMATO defend the Freedom Gate against former stablemate Akira Tozawa, and the team of PAC and Masato Yoshino defend the United Gate against the Blood Warriors duo of CIMA and Naruki Doi, as well as the final DGUSA appearance of WWE superstar Jon Moxley.
Open The Freedom Gate Title Match: YAMATO (champion) of Kamikaze USA vs Akira Tozawa
No DQ Match: Akira Tozawa vs Jon Moxley of Kamikaze USA
Open The United Gate Title Match: PAC & Masato Yoshino (champions) of World 1 vs CIMA and Naruki Doi of Blood Warriors
Brodie Lee of Blood Warriors vs Chuck Taylor of Ronin
Jimmy Rave vs Johnny Gargano of Ronin
Six Way Freestyle: Rich Swann of Ronin vs Sami Callihan vs AR Fox vs Arik Cannon vs Lince Dorado vs Silas Young
The ppv will be available on cable and the DISH Network, according to Gabe Sapolsky. I’m not sure what time, check the listings. I’m not sure how much it costs either, but according to dgusa.tv, it is “a very affordable price”. As far as I know, it is only available in the USA, but us international fans only have to wait until next week to see DGUSA on ippv. I’ll have previews for those shows up on Sunday or Monday.
If anyone is going to either (or both) of the PWG shows this weekend, you can send a report to indywrestling@hotmail.co.uk and I’ll post it on the blog. I’ll credit you, and everyone will think you’re awesome.
The show will take place on Friday the 27th of May, at American Legion Hall #308, 7338 Canby Avenue, Reseda, California, 91335, USA. I’d go, but my bus pass doesn’t extend to California, which I don’t really hold against the bus company, since I live in England.
PWG World Championship Match: Claudio Castagnoli (c) vs Chris Hero
The Kings Of Wrestling, one of the greatest tag teams of the modern era, will be facing off against each other for the top prize in PWG. Champion Claudio Castagnoli gave his partner, the former champion Chris Hero, a title shot as thanks for teaming with him in a Tag title match near the end of last year.
Friendly competition between two allies is one thing, but when a World Title is on the line it becomes a far different beast. Both men will be desperate to win this match, and there is no doubt that whichever way it turns out, it will put a strain on their friendship.
World Tag Team Championship Match: The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (c) vs The RockNES Monsters (Johnny Goodtime & Johnny Yuma)
The Young Bucks, otherwise known as Generation Me (in TNA), are currently in their second reign as PWG Tag Team Champions. However, a few months ago they were defeated by the RockNES Monsters (at KurtRussellreunion 2), so Goodtime and Yuma have been awarded this title shot.
The Bucks are undoubtedly one of the top tag teams in the business today, but their previous loss to the RockNES Monsters indicates that the match could truly go either way.
Low Ki vs Alex Shelley
Former WWE Superstar Low Ki has been on fire since his return to the independent scene, and is dead set on becoming PWG Champion for the second time. However, TNA’s Alex Shelley (one half of the Motor City Machine Guns), in his only appearance of the weekend, is determined to derail the momentum of the man formerly known as Kaval.
Akira Tozawa vs Eddie Edwards
This show has such an awesome card. Dragon Gate’s Akira Tozawa, who has had an amazing run in America over the past year, will take on ROH World Champion Eddie Edwards in a non title match. This is Tozawa’s last weekend in PWG as he will be returning to Japan shortly, so he will be extra determined to leave a lasting impression by defeating Edwards, who is arguably the top wrestler in America right now.
Kenny King vs Chuck Taylor
Unfortunately I don’t have time to write any more previews as I have to go and chop down a bush, but the rest of the card looks great too.
Tag Team Match: The Cutlers vs Austin Aries & Roderick Strong
El Generico vs Ricochet
Willie Mack vs Kevin Steen
NIGHT 2 PREVIEW
I have returned from chopping down the bush. I also moved a garden shed full of machinery, using nothing but a rope and a shovel.
This show is a little more complicated to preview, as the match stipulations depend on the outcome of the previous night’s matches. Claudio Castagnoli is booked to face Low Ki, and Chris Hero is set to face Willie Mack. Whichever man is World Champion will be defending the title in their respective match. The same goes for the Tag Team Titles.
Claudio Castagnoli vs Low Ki (the PWG World Championship will be on the line if Castagnoli is still Champion)
It’s been years since Low Ki has had his hands on the PWG World Title, so he will definitely be hoping Castagnoli retains on night 1. Both men will be battered from the previous show, but there is no question that they will give it their all in this potential classic.
Chris Hero vs Willie Mack (the PWG World Championship will be on the line if Chris Hero is Champion)
Chris Hero hand-picked Willie Mack to be his opponent on this show, after being impressed by Mack’s performance in a match with Roderick Strong. Hero was also given the option to make this a non title match if he is Champion at this point, but he insisted the belt would be on the line. This is possibly the biggest match of Willie Mack’s career.
Tag Team Match: The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) vs Austin Aries and Roderick Strong(if the Bucks are still Champions, their belts will be on the line)
The Young Bucks will be facing the veteran Austin Aries, and a man who is currently one of the top stars on the indy scene, Roderick Strong. This will certainly be a challenge for the Bucks, as their opponents are two bona fide main eventers, who have experience teaming together in the past.
Tag Team Match: The RockNES Monsters (Johnny Goodtime & Johnny Yuma) vs Nightmare Violence Connection (Kevin Steen & Akira Tozawa) (if the RockNES Monsters are Champions, their belts will be on the line)
The RockNES Monsters are looking for vengeance after both men were assaulted by Kevin Steen in January. This will be Akira Tozawa’s final match in PWG. The hard-hitting Nightmare Violence Connection definitely seem like favourites going into this match, but the Monsters have more experience as a team, experience which they are hoping will help them overcome their vicious opponents.
Eddie Edwards vs El Generico
ROH! ROH! ROH!
Ricochet vs Chuck Taylor
Dragon Gate! Dragon Gate! Dragon Gate!
Tag Team Match: The Cutlers vs The Dynasty (Joey Ryan & Scorpio Sky)
I’ll be writing previews for all of the shows listed in the previous post.
The ones for this weekend’s PWG shows will be up later today, and those for DGUSA will be up at the weekend.
I’ll also be reporting any news from the world of Independent Wrestling, but you probably guessed that since the title of this blog is “Independent Wrestling News”.
